CRBO implements bird monitoring, education, training and science programs with support from international and local partners. Work is conducted at several of our field sites, located primarily at INBioparque, Cerro de la Muerte, five field stations at Tortuguero, and in very close collaboration with partners in the vicinity of San Vito and other locations in the Costa Rica Bird Banding Network, a network that we host and promote.
Through the use of different monitoring techniques that include mist netting, area search, and migration counts, we gather pertinent information on the natural history and condition of birds with close involvement of local authorities and integration of university students as part of our internship program. All stations are operated at least monthly for at least one to several days, and all information is archived within the Landbird Monitoring Network of the Americas.
